Russia national team coach Guus Hiddink has stated that the outcome of the two-legged World Cup play-off against Slovenia will likely be decided in the second game in Maribor.

“It is not just one game we have to consider. Also, we need not to get a lot of damage in this first game, because we have to go to Maribor, Slovenia," Hiddink said at a press conference.

"I have respect for the team of Slovenia because they have shown – in qualification and a friendly against England – that they are very well organised.”

Russia start the play-off with a home match at the Luzhniki Stadium this Saturday and lock horns with the Slovenians in Maribor four days later.

The Russians do not have too many injury worries in the build-up toward the first leg. Sergey Semak, Aleksey Berezutsky and Yury Zhirkov are all not yet fully match fit, but Hiddink made it clear that the trio will be ready in time for Saturday's game.
