Italy coach Marcello Lippi has spoken of the "beautiful sensation" he felt after the squad trained in L'Aquila's Stadio Fattori near the earthquake disaster zone.

Lippi took the world champions to the area as a sign of solidarity towards the people who were affected by the April tremors.

His gesture was paid back by the fans. Three thousand of them turned up to offer their support to La Nazionale, who are preparing for the weekend's friendly with the Netherlands.

"It is a beautiful sensation," Lippi told the press.

"This is proof that we have kept our word after having undertaken this task [of visiting L'Aquila].

"I was here two months ago and I am happy experience coming here once again."
