Bayern Munich Starlet Thomas Mueller Thrilled With Germany Call-up
Mueller will use his first experience with the Mannschaft primarily to get his bearings in the side. However, he is ready to perform well should he be given a chance...
“I’m thrilled by the call-up. Being named in the Germany squad is a huge honour,” Mueller was quoted as saying by local reporters.
“I’ll try and get to know everything - the coach, the team, the environment - as quickly as I can, and make sure I fit in. And if I’m offered a chance, I’ll do my best to take it.”
The 20-year-old Bayern youth product has been named in a 24-man squad for an international friendly against Cote d’Ivoire in Gelsenkirchen on November 18.
Mueller has not been named in the squad for a preceding friendly against Chile in Koeln on November 14 as he is required by Germany's Under-21s for a vital European Championship qualifier against Northern Ireland in Belfast.
“The idea is for Thomas to spend three or four days getting a feel for it, and tasting the atmosphere with the national team,” Germany coach Joachim Loew commented at a press conference.
