Tunisia Coach Names Roster For Mozambique Showdown

Humberto Coelho has revealed the players he will count on in his team’s final World Cup qualifier.

Tunisia
Tunisian national team coach Humberto Coelho held a press conference today where he named his 23-player squad for the Carthage Eagles’ decisive qualifier against Mozambique which will be played in Maputo on November 14.

The major alteration in comparison with previous lists is the long awaited return of Al-Ittihad goalscorer Amine Chermiti. The forward had not featured for his country since making a loan move from Hertha Berlin to Saudi Arabia but his spectacular form as of late in Asian Champions League play has proven impossible to ignore.

Another player who will make his return to the Carthage Eagles setup is Greuther Furth’s Sami Allagui who will also fortify an attack that will have no choice but to produce goals versus the Mambas if they wish to qualify with no help from Kenya who face off against Nigeria in their last qualifier.

Omissions include midfielders Nabil Taider and Tijani Belaid and third string goalkeeper Farrouk Ben Mustapha. Taider, who scored a brilliant equaliser against Nigeria in Abuja, was overlooked because he has not been participating in matches with his Greek club while Belaid was not included because Coelho has judged that there are players who are more competitive than him at the moment.

Meanwhile, Ben Mustapha was dropped in favor of Jassem Khalloufi who has more experience playing in big matches in Sub-Saharan Africa. Nevertheless, the Sfaxien goalkeeper is not expected to feature in the match considering Etoile’s Aymen Mathlouthi is currently the team’s number one.

Here is the team in full:

Goalkeepers
: Aymen Mathlouthi (Etoile), Hamdi Kasraoui (Lens), Jassem Khaloufi (CSS)

Defenders: Aymen Abdennour (Etoile), Sofiene Chahed (Hannover 96), Khaled Souissi (CA), Yassine Mikari (Sochaux), Radhouene Felhi (Munich 1860), Seif Ghzel (Young Boys), Ammar Jmal (Etoile), Karim Haggui (Hannover 96)
