Tanzania Name Final Squad To Face Egypt In A Friendly - Report
The Tanzanians are shaping up ahead of CECAFA Senior Challenge and have named a strong pool to tackle the Pharaohs, though they are shorn of a handful of their best players...
Nizar Khalfan and Henry Joseph, who play in Canada and Norway respectively, are the notable stars missing, though Muharami Mohamed, who plays for Mozambique’s Ferroviano Maputo, will also be absent.
The Taifa Stars assembled for camp on Monday and are expected to fly to Cairo on Wednesday.
The Pharaohs invited Tanzania for the friendly as part of their warm-up for the looming do-or-die clash with Algeria. Egypt need to defeat the Fennecs by a big margin if they want to qualify for the 2010 World Cup.
Tanzania will use the match to be ready for the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, which kicks off next month in Kenya.
According to the list released by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and posted in The Citizen, Maximo retained David Naftali, Juma Jabu, Kelvin Yondani, Juma Nyoso, Danny Mrwanda, Mussa 'Mgosi' Hassan, Shadrack Nsajigwa, Nurdin Bakari, Jerry Tegete, Mrisho Ngassa, Kigi Makassy, Aggrey Morris, Ibrahim Mwaipopo, Erasto Nyoni, Salum Sued, John Bocco, Shaaban Kado, Shaaban Nditti, Zahoro Pazi, Shaaban Dihile, Mwinyi Kazimoto, Rashid Gumbo and Mbwana Samata.
