Algeria’s Rabah Saadane Upset At Poor Refereeing During Rwanda Match
The former ES Setif manager is furious that his team was denied two clear goals by the match official...
“Frankly, it was catastrophic refereeing from the Guinea trio who all wronged us greatly. Honestly, I didn’t expect such a such a poor level of refereeing. African football can’t progress with referees like this,” he explained.
The trainer was referring to a goal scored by Anthar Yahia which was cleared well after it crossed the goal line by a Rwandan defender, as well as a goal scored after an errant offside call was made on a play that didn’t implicate the Algerian player who struck the finish.
Nevertheless, Saadane did admit that it was not all the referees fault and said that some of his players did not find their team-mates at the right moments and in the right areas of the field.
“We wished to score more goals with all the chances we created but too much rushing and selfishness by some players didn’t allow us to score more than two goals,” he added.
Algeria face Egypt in their final qualifier in Cairo next month and must win, draw or avoid losing by more a two goal deficit to be sure of qualifying for next summer’s show-piece.
