Reports are circulating in England that Sven-Goran Eriksson could become head coach of North Korea at the 2010 World Cup.

The former England boss is on his way to Beijing this week to talk to representatioves of the North Korean Football Association with a view to taking over the Chollima on a part-time and temporary basis.

The Swede, currently Notts County’s director of football services, is making the trip along with Peter Trembling, the executive chairman of the ambitious League Two club.

According to The Guardian, Trembling has already been talking to North Korean representatives.

The team qualified for the 2010 World Cup, its first since 1966, in June and, if the well-travelled Eriksson does become their team’s coach, he will provide some much-needed international experience.

The former Mexico and Manchester City coach would then return to Notts County ahead of the 2010-11 season.

The North Korean embassy in London said, according to the newspaper, that an announcement could be made within three weeks.
