Tunisian international forward Amine Chermiti granted an interview to Jawhara FM yesterday, during which he falsified a report by Saudi Arabian newspaper Oukadh, which claimed he had refused to join the Carthage Eagles for their World Cup qualifier against Kenya.

“First of all I’d like to formally deny this assertion. It doesn’t have any truth to it," he explained. "Newspapers write a lot of articles, some of them are real and some of them are not and this isn’t real.

“I would have been ready to represent the national team in this match. Al-Ittihad officials told me that I had been pre-selected for the match as they had received documents from the Tunisian Football Federation, but in the end our coach didn’t call me up. I accepted the decision, although I was still disappointed.”

The former Etoile Sportive du Sahel star also took the opportunity to insist that he was starting to regain his form after being hampered by injuries during his one year spell at Hertha Berlin last season.

Furthermore, Chermiti expressed total satisfaction with his current loan move to Al-Ittihad, pledging that he is at the disposal of the Carthage Eagles whenever Humberto Coelho gives him his chance.
