Denmark secured qualification for the 2010 World Cup on Saturday by beating arch rivals Sweden 1-0. Holding midfielder Jakob Poulsen was the hero with a successful long range strike after 78 minutes, much to his own delight.

"It was just fantastic and I think it was pretty obvious that I felt that way. We had been talking about chances from distance as the Swedish defence stood pretty far back," explained the Aarhus midfielder to reporters.

"However, I was probably a bit lucky that their goalkeeper saw the ball as late as he did. It was fantastic to qualify at home – and against Sweden – and after having gone undefeated through qualifying.

National team coach Morten Olsen made it clear that it was the team that proved to be key in Denmark's qualification success.

"We are FC Solidarity. We have used a lot of players but everyone has stuck to the agreements we made and played for each other. Everybody in this team has done a fantastic job."
