Republic of Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni has hailed Antonio Cassano's qualities, but he was in no mood to continue the debate on why he has been snubbed by Italy.
The former Italy tactician is gearing up for the big World Cup qualifier against the Azzurri. Many fans and pundits believe that Cassano would excel under Lippi and would be the missing piece in the Nazionale puzzle.
"Cassano gave me great satisfactions and he was the most talented player when I was the Azzurri coach," Trapattoni told the press.
"What can I say? I don't want to cause Lippi any problems, but Cassano is a player who scored, and set up goals playing for me.
"Of course, Lippi has made other choices, and I don't want to interfere with that."
