Halilhodzic, coach of the Ivory Coast national side, has published the list of the 23 players he has picked to play
the game against Malawi in Blantyre on October 10.
The Bosnian manager created quite a stir at the press conference when people realised he was calling up defender Diarrasouba Viera for the first time, discarding experienced Abdoulaye Meite in the process.
Cote d'Ivoire lead Group E of the joint qualifiers of the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Boasting a very comfortable advantage, a draw would ensure the Elephants their ticket to the World Cup.
Squad:
Goalkeepers: Boubacar Barry Copa (KSC Lokeren, Belgium), Ibrahim Kone (Boulogne-Sur-Mer, France), Vincent Angban (ASEC Mimosas).
Defenders: Brou Angoua (Kispest Honved, Hungary), Emmanuel Eboue (Arsenal, England), Constant Djakpa (Hannover 96, Germany), Arthur Boka (Stuttgart, Germany), Kolo Toure (Manchester City, England), Guy Demel (Hamburg, Germany), Souleymane Bamba (Hibernian, Scotland), Viera Diarrasouba (International Curtea de Arges, Romania).
Midfielders: Yaya Toure (Barcelona, Spain), Didier Zokora (Sevilla, Spain), Emerse Fae (Nice, France), Kouamatien Kone (International Curtea de Arges, Romania), Jean-Jacques Gosso Gosso (Monaco, France), Cheikh Tiote (Twente, Netherlands).
Forwards: Kader Keita (Galatasaray, Turkey), Gervinho (Lille, France), Salomon Kalou (Chelsea, England), Didier Drogba (Chelsea, England), Boubacar Sanogo (Saint-Etienne, France), Sekou Cisse (Feyenoord, Netherlands).
