According to DZfoot.net, Algerian national team coach Rabah
Saadane recently named a 22 man roster for his side’s upcoming World Cup
qualifier versus Rwanda which will be played in Blida on October 11.
As expected, both Portsmouth’s Hassan Yebda and Nantes’ Djamel Abdoun have both received their first call-ups to the Fennecs.
However, to include the two, Saadane was faced with the difficult choice of having to exclude both Rabie Meftah and Hocine Achiou from the team.
The fact that two locally based players are being replaced by two new arrivals from Europe who are benefitting from FIFA’s rule change regarding switching national team allegiances hasn’t pleased everyone concerned.
Saadane will hold a press conference next Tuesday in order to explain his choices and will undoubtedly be questioned about his decision to bring on two new players for such a crucial matchup and run the risk of disturbing the good atmosphere within the squad.
Another surprise is that the former ES Setif manager has included Rafik Djebbour despite the fact that the striker is experiencing troubles at club level and is currently unsettled.
Here is the list in full:
Bougherra Madjid (Rangers FC), Halliche Rafik (Nacional Madeira CD), Belhadj Nadir (Portsmouth), Yebda Hassen (Portsmouth), Matmour Karim (Borussia M'Gladbach), Bezzaz Yassine (RC Strasbourg), Saifi Rafik (Al Khor), Ghilas Kamel Fethi (Hull City), Djebbour Rafik Zoheir (AEK Athenes), Ghezzal Abdelkader Mohamed (Sienna), Bouazza Hamer (Blackpool), Ziani Kari (VFL Wolfsburg), Yahia Anther (Bochum), Meghni Mourad (Lazio), Abdoune Djamel (Nantes), Gaouaoui Lounes (ASO Chlef), Zaoui Samir (ASO Chlef), Chaouchi Faouzi (ES Setif), Raho Slimane (ES Setif), Lemmouchia Kaled (ES Setif), Ouserir Nassim (CR Belouizdad), Baabouche Reda (MC Alger)
