Tunisia Seeking Sparring Partner For October Fixture
The Tunisian Football Federation has initiated contact with their Lybian, Guinean, and Angolan counterparts to set up a friendly test.
According to the newspaper Assabah, the Tunisian Football
Federation are in the midst of negotiations with their Libyan, Guinean, and
Angolan counterparts in order to receive an official commitment from one of
them to play a friendly match on October 14, four days after the Carthage
Eagles host Kenya’s Harambee Starts in CAF World Cup qualifying.
The extra match would allow Humberto Coelho to prepare his team for their highly important final qualifier which will be played versus Mozambique in Maputo on November 14.
The Portuguese coach took it upon himself to contact his compatriot, Manuel Jose, to propose that his side, Angola, come to Tunis to continue their preparations for hosting the 2010 African Cup of Nations.
Meanwhile, the North African country’s FA has decided to turn down proposals from both the United Arab Emirates and Qatar to play on the aforementioned date.
Furthermore, the Carthage Eagles are unlikely to face France on November 11 now that Les Bleus will have a tough time securing automatic qualification to the World Cup and will likely be participating in a playoff at the time.
