Morocco Winger Adel Taarabt Hopes To Return For Gabon Clash
The Moroccan winger says that he has overcome a bout with mumps and will be ready to face Gabon next month.
Moroccan international winger Adel Taarabt has told
liondelatlas.net that he is feeling much better after contracting mumps which left him unable to train or play matches with his English club side Queens Park Rangers.
“I wasn’t well these past few days but thankfully I’m better now. The club’s medical staff suggested eight days of rest so I couldn’t play this past weekend,” he explained.
However, the skillful youngster has expressed hope that he will be ready for his side’s Carling Cup match versus Chelsea on Wednesday while indicating that his real priority is his commitment to his country’s national team which will play a make or break World Cup qualifying tie versus Gabon in Libreville in early October.
“For the Carling Cup, I hope I can play on Wednesday against Chelsea but the match I can’t miss for me remains the one against Gabon because it's decisive for the national team. A victory in Libreville and hope for the World Cup will be reignited,” he added.
“We’re capable of bringing back three points and then going for qualification against the Cameroonians.”
Taarabt scored a brilliant individual goal in Lome versus Togo to make sure that match finished in a 1-1 draw and is thus the main reason the North African country still have a very slight chance of advancing to South Africa 2010.
