thumbnail Hello,

Bafana Bafana fans will hope that the centre-back's inclusion in the Confederations Cup squad will prevent opposition teams from taking advantage of set pieces.

South Africa have conceded 16 goals during the reign of coach Joel Santana and, interestingly, nine were the result of set pieces.

Santana has admitted that he is worried about Bafana’s defence against set pieces, and hopes that Booth could be a solution for their vulnerability in this area. The 1.98m central defender is superb in the air and is also an excellent organiser at the back.

Booth’s fellow defender at Sundowns and with the national team, Siboniso Gaxa revealed, "We still have to work at a couple of things before our first match against Iraq. Good teams punish you if you don’t know your story against corner or free kicks. We will have to minimise mistakes in our territory."

South Africa have three group games and beating Iraq would mean they would take on New Zealand with additional confidence. They will then require three more points from two remaining games to qualify for the semi-finals.
