Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos faces spell on sidelines

The Spaniard appears to have suffered a recurrence of his spinal issues against Los Angeles Galaxy earlier in pre-season, and now will undergo medical treatment

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos could face a further period out of action, after limping off in their 6-0 rout of Chinese outfit Tianjin on Saturday, the club have confirmed on their official website.

The World Cup-winner managed only 39 minutes on the pitch, before appearing to suffer pain and discomfort in his back, similar to the problem he encountered during their stint in Los Angeles, where he was forced to miss almost a fortnight of their preparations for the new season.

As a result, the 25-year-old, who was replaced by youngster Nacho in the match, will now proceed to be given medical treatment and physiotherapy, whilst his recovery will be carefully monitored.

Ramos now faces the test of time, as question marks now surround his participation in their Supercopa clash with Barcelona on August 14.
