Palermo, Valencia and Napoli were all involved in a triangular series this evening, with each team playing each other once in a 45-minute match.

The home side were able to lift the Renzo Barbera trophy, after defeating their two opponents this evening.

Napoli 1-1 Valencia (Pen 4-5)

Valencia walked away with the victory in this match, after Leandro Rinaudo's decisive error from the penalty spot. Los Che took the lead in the match after only three minutes when Roberto Soldado was brought down in the box by Rinaudo. The former Getafe hitman converted his opportunity. Raffaele Maiello then equalised for the Partenopei seven minutes from time, as his shot deflected off the post and into the back of the net

A Massimo Maccarone goal in the 25th minute decided the clash. There was also questions over the validity of the goal, as Javier Pastore seemed to have fouled Morgan De Sanctis. But only 15 minutes later, the former Siena striker turned into the villain, when he was shown a straight red  for an ugly challenge on Fabio Santacroce. Prior to kick-off, Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini wished Edinson Cavani all the best at this new club, after the Uruguayan joined the Azzurri in the summer.

New signing Mauricio Pinilla showed why he was being closely monitored by several Italian clubs last season, with a decisive goal in the 25th minute. The Chilean was able to connect with Fabio Liverani's corner kick and deliver the crucial blow on the scoreboard.
