Club World Cup: TP Mazembe Keeper Muteba Kidiaba Desperately Wants Fifth Place
The Africans are eager to beat Auckland City in the game for fifth place...
Congolese outfit TP Mazembe put in a good performance in their quarter-final game against Pohang Steelers, but they eventually had to settle for a 2-1 defeat. The Africans' tournament didn't come to an end with that defeat though, as they take on Auckland City in the battle for fifth spot.
“Collectively, as a team, we played really well, it was only in front of goal that we let ourselves down a little. We have great team spirit, a steely discipline and bags of courage on the field," Muteba Kidiaba told FIFA.com.
“I was about to hang up my gloves last year – the plan was to become a goalkeeping coach. But I rediscovered the desire to keep playing, and it’s still there now.
"I was so determined to do well - I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take part in this incredible competition. We really want fifth place. It's a game we feel we must win. Not just for ourselves, but for our supporters, for Congo DR and for Africa."
