UAE Champs Al Ahli Name Squad For FIFA Club World Cup

UAE champions Al Ahli have named their 23-man squad for December’s FIFA Club World Cup

The 2009 version is being held in Abu Dhabi, a change from the usual venue of Japan, and as title-holders, the Dubai club have a chance to do battle with the champions of each confederation.

Al Ahli will kick off the tournament against Oceanic representatives Auckland City on December 9 for the right to face CONCAFAF champions Atlante from Mexico three days later.

The club are without a coach after sacking Romanian Ioan Andone early in the season and caretaker Mahdi Ali has been left to select the lucky 23.

Egyptian star Hosny Abd Rabo and Brazilian striker Bare are the stars of the squad as is 2008 Asian Young Player of the Year Ahmad Khalil.

The elder Khalil, Faisal, is injured and will miss the ten-day tournament.
