A fascinating round of Italian top-flight action throws up some surprise heroes in the best XI
There were a swathe of key results all across the Serie A table in the weekend's Round 29 action, with Juventus edging closer to the Scudetto, Roma extending their advantage in the Champions League race, Inter falling away in the fight for Europe and big goals being scored down at the bottom. It all makes for a fascinating Goal Team of the Week.
The No.1 shirt goes to Neto, whose heroics helped Fiorentina record a massive win at Napoli, while Giorgio Chiellini was masterful at the back as Juve beat Catania to move three points closer to another Scudetto. Angelo Palombo scored one and dictated the play from his spot just in front of the back line as Sampdoria hammered Verona, and Cesare Bovo was superb in Torino's 3-1 win against Livorno.
Joaquin was the matchwinner in the weekend's biggest game, with Fiorentina beating Napoli thanks to the Spaniard's late goal, and Alvaro Gonzalez grabbed the vital equaliser in Lazio's 1-1 draw with Milan. Lazaros Christodoulopoulos struck the winning penalty as Bologna recorded a key win over Cagliari. They are joined in midfield by Samp's two-goal hero Roberto Soriano and Giacomo Bonaventura, whose brace for Atalanta toppled Inter.
Carlos Tevez scored another invaluable goal as Juve remained 14 points clear at the top, but it was Ciro Immobile who shone more than anyone else over the weekend, with his hat-trick in Saturday's anticipo ensuring Torino took three points from their clash with Livorno.
