La Liga Team of the Week: Villa & Giovani in as Barcelona & Madrid stars miss out

The Spain striker shone in Atletico Madrid's 5-0 win over Betis, while the Mexican struck two as Villarreal thrashed regional rivals Valencia. No players from the Clasico feature
The Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid at Camp Nou on Saturday may have dominated the headlines in La Liga at the weekend, but the game itself proved something of a disappointment compared to recent meetings between the top two in Spain.

Barca beat Madrid 2-1, but no players from either side are included in Goal's Liga Team of the Week - this time featuring footballers from Real Sociedad, Granada, Athletic Bilbao, Atletico Madrid, Levante, Celta Vigo and Villarreal.

In goal, Gorka Iraizoz was instrumental in Athletic's 1-0 victory at Getafe, saving a one-on-one and a penalty from Diego Castro, despite playing with an injury.

At the back, Jose Angel was solid for Real Sociedad and scored one of the goals in the Basques' 3-0 win over Almeria. Jeison Murillo was a rock in defence for Granada as the Andalusians edged out Elche in a 1-0 success, while Aymeric Laporte impressed in the victory at Getafe, in which he also netted the winning goal.

In midfield, Atletico Madrid youngster Oliver Torres is included after scoring the fastest goal in the club's history as he netted with just 13 seconds on the clock in the 5-0 win over Betis. Cani caused constant danger to the Valencia defence in Villarreal's 4-1 win and was an omnipresent figure across the midfield. For Levante, Nabil El Zhar hit a double in the 3-0 victory over Espanyol, while Alex Lopez also struck twice for Celta Vigo in the Galicians' impressive 5-0 success at Malaga.

Further forward, Antoine Griezmann was the star with two goals for Real Sociedad, while David Villa also hit a double for Atletico and Giovani dos Santos notched a pair of his own - plus an assist - as Villarreal thrashed regional rivals Valencia 4-1 at El Madrigal.
