GOALKEEPER

Fabien AUDARD
Lorient

Fabien Audard gets the nod for this week after an impressive display in Lorient's 1-1 draw with Toulouse on Saturday. The goalkeeper held off le Tefece in superb fashion, clinging onto the point to deny the hosts the win which would've boosted their unlikely European ambitions. Audard narrowly beat off competition in the form of Guillermo Ochoa who performed admirably in Ajaccio's 1-0 win over Marseille.

DEFENDERS

Mouhamadou DABO

Aymen Abdennour continues to display flashes of brilliance at the back with a seventh appearance in the Team of thh Week (TOTW) this season. The highly-rated young centre-back might have been static in Innocent Emeghara's equaliser for the visitors, though with a number of timely interceptions, he prolongs his burgeoning reputation in Le Championnat.

Alex makes his first appearance following his January move from Chelsea. The centre-back was a solid rock at in defence in les Parisien's 2-1 win over Dijon, and his defensive ability became all the more apparent when Mohamed Sissoko saw red in the first half and the hosts failed to negotiate a way past the on-form Brazilian.

Rounding off the defence for week 27 is Mouhamadou Dabo of Lyon, who made a rare start in Lyon's impressive 2-1 win over Lille. Dabo replaced Aly Cissokho, who was rested after playing 120 minutes against APOEL on Wednesday, but his absence wasn't felt at all as the left-back put les Dogues to the sword with an impressive display. Dabo did well to race past Mathieu Debuchy and set up Alexandre Lacazette for the opener.

Jonathan Pitroipa makes a third appearance in the TOTW with a good display in les Rouge et Noir's 1-1 draw with Auxerre on Sunday. The Burkinabe winger was a force on the flanks as the visitors crumbled. Unlucky not to have got more from the game, though his performance more than warranted a place in this list.

Like Pitroipa, Paulo Machado also makes a third appearance in the best XI with an impressive display in Toulouse's 1-1 draw with Lorient. The Portuguese midfielder was the creative force in the middle of the park, often fashioning openings for his team-mates, even though he was denied by Fabien Audard on many occasions.

Montpellier's Remy Cabella also had reason to celebrate, proving to be a vital cog in la Paillade's 3-0 dismantling of Caen to move them back to within a point of PSG. The midfielder, who turned 22 last weekend, was a threat throughout as Rene Girard's men secured a fine win.

Benoit Tremoulinas rounded off a difficult week off the pitch with a good display on it during Bordeaux's 2-0 victory. The left-sided player tore down the flanks and exhibited a perfect mix between attack and defence to contribute a good deal to les Girondins' away win at Brest - only the second side to do so.

Benjamin ANDRE
Ajaccio
TOTW Apps: 1
Benjamin Andre was the hero at Stade Francois Coty on Friday evening as the midfielder netted at the death to condemn Marseille to a fourth straight defeat in Ligue 1. The 21-year-old had already enjoyed a stellar game on the Corsican island, nullifying the threat of the visitors as the new-boys held on for a memorable victory.

FORWARDS

Edouard BUTIN
Sochaux

Yann GOUFFRAN
Bordeaux
TOTW Apps: 2

Edouard Butin enjoyed a rare game at the weekend, contributing to all three of Sochaux's goals as they momentarily moved off the bottom of the table in an enthralling 3-2 win over Evian. Butin scored one and had a hand in the other two to give new boss Eric Hely a first win.

Yann Gouffran rounds off the team for week 27, scoring in Bordeaux's 2-0 win over Brest. Gouffran took his goal well just before half-time, and was a constant threat at Stade Francis le Ble as les Girondins moved level on points with Marseille
