An incredible four-goal haul from Yakubu sees the Blackburn Rovers striker earn a place in our XI for the second time this season.The Nigerian netted all of his side’s goals in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Swansea City at Ewood Park, which saw Steve Kean’s men move to within a point of safety.
Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul, who narrowly missed out on a place in our team last week to Joe Hart, also makes his second appearance of the campaign. Despite conceding three goals in the Magpies’ defeat to Chelsea, the Dutchman pulled off a number of fine stops and saved a first-half Frank Lampard penalty.
Micah Richards is at right-back after starring for Manchester City in their demolition of Norwich City, while Liverpool defender Daniel Agger and goalscorers Robert Huth and Kieran Richardson also make the cut.
TOTW regulars Scott Parker, Gareth Bale, Juan Mata and Phil Jones, who scored his first career goal in Manchester United’s 1-0 win at Aston Villa, are all included once again, meaning our midfield four this week have already earned a staggering 16 appearances between them in our lineups this season.
Honourable mentions go to Nemanja Vidic, Brede Hangeland, Aaron Lennon, Gervinho and Steven Fletcher, but Daniel Sturridge takes the final place in this week’s team after capping an excellent performance against Newcastle with a goal in the last minute.
