Italian football received a bit of a kicking in the Champions League in midweek, but come the weekend Serie A was right back at the top of its game, with some magnificent performances highlighting an absorbing round 16 of action.
Angelo Da Costa's standout display for Sampdoria ensured a crucial victory away to Chievo, while in front of him there are spots for Matteo Darmian after Torino's win at Udinese and Mehdi Benatia for his showing in Roma's 2-2 draw at AC Milan on Monday. The Rossoneri have two defenders in the side too, with goalscorer Cristian Zapata and Urby Emanuelson making up the back four.
Borja Valero was a scorer once more in Fiorentina's 3-0 triumph over Bologna, while Lucas Biglia starred in Lazio's 2-0 victory against Livorno. Fredy Guarin, meanwhile, stood out despite defeat for Inter against Napoli.
The six-shooters up front start with Giuseppe Rossi, who netted for Fiorentina. Next is Miroslav Klose, the scorer of a pair of first-half efforts for Lazio. And the star of the weekend was hat-trick hero Carlos Tevez, who proved to be the catalyst behind Juventus' 4-0 win over Sassuolo.
