La Liga Team of the Week: Ramos & Varane included after Clasico heroics

The Frenchman was in fine form yet again as Real Madrid beat Barcelona for the second time in a week, this time thanks to the Spain defender's late winner at the Santiago Bernabeu

Barcelona saw their lead at the top of La Liga reduced to 11 points at the weekend after they lost the Clasico to Real Madrid, but the Catalans are still 13 ahead of Jose Mourinho's men (in third) with only 12 rounds of the competition remaining.

Below those three, the fight for the remaining European spots continues in earnest, while clubs at the bottom look to put together a run of form in order to avoid relegation.

Deportivo La Coruna would be even worse off without goalkeeper Dani Aranzubia, who helped the Galicians avoid defeat in a goalless draw at home to Rayo Vallecano at the weekend.

Alexis was impeccable in defence for Getafe in their win over Zaragoza and is joined by Real Madrid pair Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane. The Spain centre-back scored a late winner for the champions in the Clasico at home to Barcelona, while the Frenchman turned in another accomplished display against the Catalan club after starring in his side's recent Copa del Rey success over two legs versus the Blaugrana.

Jesus Navas was close to his brilliant best as Sevilla thrashed Celta Vigo 4-1 in Monday's game, while Barkero was the hero with a late leveller for Levante in the Valencia derby and Susaeta scored the only goal in Athletic Bilbao's narrow win at rivals Osasuna. Giovani dos Santos makes up the midfield after his two assists in the islanders' important 2-1 win at Granada.

In attack, Alvaro Negredo is in after scoring the first hat-trick of his career in the win over Celta for Sevilla, while Dorlan Pabon and Carlos Vela make up the XI after contributing four of the six goals in Real Sociedad's 3-3 draw with Betis.
