While plenty of goals were being scored around the league, Udinese had Zeljko Brkic to thank for keeping the tally down as he produced a string of important saves, including a penalty stop from Nicola Pozzi's effort, to ensure that the Friulani took all three points back from their trip to Sampdoria.
Stephan Lichtsteiner turned from midweek provider to weekend goal hero as he converted Mirko Vucinic's back-heel pass to give Juventus a 1-0 victory at Palermo. Marquinhos makes the cut for a third time in four weeks after he continued his excellent form at the back for Roma against Fiorentina, and he even had a second-half goal disallowed. Another consistent performer of late has been Danilo, who gets a second straight mention in our Team of the Week following a commanding display for Udinese at Sampdoria, made even better by his header which sent the Zebrette on the way to their 2-0 win. The back four is completed by Mattia De Sciglio, who played a key part in Milan's 4-2 win at Torino with his energy and incision down the flank.
In midfield, Miralem Pjanic is included after his fantastic performance in Roma's win over Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico, and Fredy Guarin's accomplished display as an attacking midfielder helped Inter see off a strong challenge from Napoli. Alongside them is Vladimir Weiss, whose efforts helped Pescara to heap more pressure on Genoa boss Luigi Del Neri.
The forward line is headed by Francesco Totti, who continued to roll back the years with two goals and a marvellous assist as Roma put four past Fiorentina. He is joined by Gonzalo Bergessio, scorer of two and architect of another in Catania's comeback win at Siena, and Antonio Di Natale, whose opportunism up front helped Udinese past Sampdoria on Monday. And besides, Christmas is coming, so 'Tony Christmas' has to be in there!
