La Liga Team of the Week: Ozil joins record-breaker Messi & five-goal Falcao
The German inspired Real Madrid to victory at Valladolid, while the Argentine surpassed Gerd Muller's legendary 1972 record and the Colombian hit five against Deportivo La Coruna
Once again, Barcelona claimed most of the headlines after the 15th round of action in the Primera Division. The Catalans are now the only team in the whole of Europe still unbeaten, while their star man Lionel Messi took his tally to 86 goals for the calendar year with a double in the 2-1 win at Betis which saw him surpass the legendary Gerd Muller. But there were plenty of other stories, too, not least Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, who hit five of his side's six in their impressive 6-0 win at home to Deportivo La Coruna. Real Madrid, meanwhile, came from behind to beat Valladolid 3-2 at Zorrilla, inspired by two-goal hero Mesut Ozil on Saturday.
Here, Goal.com looks at the star performers from the latest round of Liga games.
Willy Caballero was in fine form to keep a clean sheet as Malaga beat Granada on Saturday and is included in goal.
In defence, both Amaya and Pique impressed as Betis gave Barcelona a hard game in Seville. Meanwhile, David Navarro is looking more comfortable alongside Sergio Ballesteros at Levante and scored a goal in his side's 4-0 win over Mallorca.
Sofiane Feghouli turned in a fine performance for Valencia at Osasuna, while Mesut Ozil was the saviour for Real Madrid at Valladolid as he netted the all-important second and third goals in the 3-2 win for Jose Mourinho's men. Joaquin continues to shine with Malaga and scored again, while Arda Turan proved a great ally to five-goal Falcao in the 6-0 demolition of Depor.
Falcao and Leo Messi are both in after their incredible feats at the weekend, and the South Americans are joined by Angolan Manucho, who scored twice for Valladolid and had Madrid in all sorts of trouble on Saturday.
