Federico Marchetti was one of those to gain full marks after his stirring display between the posts for Lazio earned the Biancocelesti a 0-0 draw away to champions Juventus in Turin.
His team-mate Giuseppe Biava also played a big part in the successful defensive effort from the Aquile, keeping Sebastian Giovinco and Fabio Quagliarella quiet, and also making some crucial late blocks and interceptions. Nicola Legrottaglie's solid performance at the back set the platform for Catania in their victory over Chievo at the Massimino, and Marquinhos was the star man for Roma as they saw off the tough challenge provided by Torino, to win 2-0 in the capital on Monday night.
Juventus' inability to break down Lazio came despite a great performance from Mauricio Isla on the right, while a former Bianconero stole the show in Sicily as Sergio Almiron scored both of Catania's goals in their victory over Chievo. Alberto Aquilani was also at the double as he continued his recent form in front of goal to help Fiorentina to a fifth successive win - 4-1 against Atalanta - and Francesco Valiani was Siena's stand-out performer in their vital 1-0 win against Pescara, grabbing the only goal of the game for good measure.
The phrase "He's done it yet again" has been used time and again in relation to Stephan El Shaarawy, who was Milan's saviour as the Rossoneri wiped out Napoli's two-goal lead thanks to a double from the Italy international. Another three-time call-up for our Team of the Week is Alberto Gilardino, who returned to form to help blast Bologna past pitiful Palermo. Meanwhile, Marco Sau's five-star showing grabbed the headlines against Inter, with his two goals earning Cagliari a hugely-deserved share of the spoils.
