Manchester United's remarkable record of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat this season continued last week, with Mexico striker Chicharito the hero for the Red Devils with three goals in two appearances (though he will no doubt claim four).

The 24-year-old capped his side's win away at Sporting Braga in midweek to seal their progression to the Champions League knock-out phase, rounding goalkeeper Beto before poking high into the roof of the net after his initial effort was cleared off the line.

However, it was during Saturday's victory over Aston Villa that Javier Hernandez had his biggest impact. Introduced at half-time and with his side trailing 2-0 after 50 minutes, the 'Little Pea' turned the game on its head, first slotting coolly beneath Brad Guzan following Paul Scholes' pass before driving Rafael's cross in off defender Ron Vlaar.

And with only three minutes of normal time remaining, the former Chivas hitman sealed another vital win for Sir Alex Ferguson's side, steering Robin van Persie's free kick into the bottom corner with a superb diving header, extending United's lead at the top of the Premier League to two points.

Edinson Cavani - Napoli The Uruguay star smashed four goals past Dnipro in the Europa League in midweek, including a stunning free kick. Cavani then netted a crucial equaliser against Genoa as Napoli turned the game around to claim a late 4-2 win.
Fred - Fluminense The veteran Brazil striker scored the opening goal against Palmeiras before securing a 3-2 win with his second in the closing minutes. The victory meant that Fluminense were crowned Brasileiro champions for only the fourth time in their history.
Siem de Jong - Ajax The 23-year-old Ajax captain propelled the Dutch club into a two-goal lead away to Manchester City in the Champions League, then continued his hot scoring streak with the final strike in the Eredivisie champions' 4-2 win over FC Zwolle on Sunday afternoon.
Kim Seung-Yong - Ulsan Hyundai The midfielder controlled proceedings in the South Korean side's victorious Asian Champions League final appearance. He scored a stunning half-volley and created another as the club won 3-0 against Al Ahly - their first ever triumph in the tournament.
Ranti Martins Soleye Prayag United The Nigerian put in a blistering personal display as Prayag United ran out 10-1 winners over United Sikkim! Soleye scored five of those goals and notched up an equally impressive three assists in the most productive forward display of the week.
