For a club who have gone 11 months unbeaten in all competitions, winning is simply a way of life for Shakhtar Donetsk nowadays.

However, the confident way they dispatched reigning European champions Chelsea this week raised eyebrows around the continent and Alex Teixeira's performance played a huge part in the 2-1 victory.

The Brazilian attacker opened the scoring in the Champions League tie at the Donbass Arena, pouncing on a blocked Adriano shot to calmly open the scoring just three minutes in.

Teixeira also netted the only goal of the game in Shakhtar's trip to Tavriya on Saturday. The 1-0 triumph helped the Miners extend their lead in the Ukrainian Premier League to an eye-watering 15 points.

Alongside the likes of Willian and Fernandinho, the former Vasco da Gama player is proving that you do not need to play in a major European league to attract the plaudits on the continent.

Honourable Mention

Javier Hernandez - Man United Hernandez saved his side from embarrassment twice this week. The Red Devils went 2-0 down to Braga but he came off the bench to score twice to help give them a 3-2 win. The striker also scored the winner against nine-man Chelsea using his poacher instincts to net.
M Schmelzer - Dortmund The full-back demonstrated that he is capable of starring at the highest level. He scored Borussia Dortmund's winning goal against Real Madrid in Europe midweek; then helped keep a clean sheet for the Bundesliga champions as they beat Freiburg away 2-0.
Lucas Moura - Sao Paulo The attacking midfielder, who has been linked with a move to PSG, bagged a hat-trick as Sao Paulo beat Sport 4-2 away from home. The result means there is still a seven-point gap keeping them in the final Copa Libertadores qualifying slot with five games of the season left.
Christian Eriksen - Ajax The Danish winger was hugely impressive in the midweek 3-1 Champions League win against Man City where he assisted the second goal and scored the third. And showed no signs of this form abating as the starlet opened the scoring in their 2-2 draw with Feyenoord.
Jefferson Farfan - Schalke The pacey winger played a huge factor in Schalke's 2-0 win at Arsenal in the Champions League as he ran the Brazilian full-back Andre Santos ragged. This weekend he also propelled them to second in the Bundesliga by volleying in to give them a 1-0 win over Nurnberg.
