Bundesliga Team of the Week: Holtby & Afellay included after derby win over Dortmund

Goal.com picks out the best talent on show in Germany's top flight in a fascinating weekend that saw Bayern Munich and Schalke claim significant victories

Borussia Dortmund's bid for a third straight Bundesliga title may well be over after just eight matches after they slipped to a 2-1 home loss to Schalke in Saturday's Revierderby. Not too far away in the Ruhr area, Fortuna Dusseldorf were being crushed by Bayern Munich who made history by keeping up their 100 per cent in the Bundesliga.

Elsewhere, there were great wins for Stuttgart and Werder Bremen over Hamburg and Borussia Monchengladbach respectively, while Freiburg piled the misery on Wolfsburg by claiming a 2-0 win at the Volkswagen Arena. And, as ever, Goal.com is on hand to salute the finest talent on show in Germany over the weekend.

In goal, Sven Ulreich made a series of fine saves for Stuttgart at the Imtech Arena, ensuring that the in-form Hamburg were kept at bay.

He has his team-mate, Serdar Tasci as part of the defence protecting his goal, alongside Oliver Sorg of Freiburg, and Sebastian Jung, who put in another fine showing for surprise package Eintracht Frankfurt.

Two Bayern players, Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery star in the midfield after decimating Fortuna Dusseldorf, while Marko Arnautovic put in a fine showing, scoring one goal for Bremen against Gladbach. Finally, Lewis Holtby was in fine form for Schalke as the Konigsblauen stunned the champions.

Up front, Adam Szalai scored one and created another for Mainz, who claimed a 2-2 draw at Leverkusen, while Joselu grabbed two goals in a 3-3 thriller between Hoffenheim and Greuther Furth. Ibrahim Afellay completes our XI after opening the scoring in the Ruhr derby.
