Premier League Team of the Week: Hazard & Mata star as Chelsea move four points clear at the top
The Blues maintained their great start to the season with a 4-1 win over Norwich, while Manchester City duo Aguero and Kolarov also feature after beating Sunderland 3-0
Eden Hazard and Juan Mata both feature in our TOTW for the third time this season after helping table-toppers Chelsea to a 4-1 victory over Norwich City.
Hazard returned to his sensational form from the opening games of the season with the third goal of the afternoon at Stamford Bridge, but Spanish star Mata stole the show, proving influential throughout for the Blues, who now sit four points clear at the top of the table.
Manchester City’s goalscoring duo Aleksandar Kolarov and Sergio Aguero both make the cut following Saturday’s 3-0 win over Sunderland. Despite not starting at the Etihad, the Argentine lifted his side after replacing Mario Balotelli, while the Serbian left-back opened the scoring with a fantastic free-kick.
Santi Cazorla is included in our XI for the third time since signing for Arsenal this summer, with the former Malaga man helping the Gunners overturn a 1-0 deficit to see off West Ham 3-1 at Upton Park.
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick features in midfield following the 3-0 victory over Newcastle as the Red Devils climb to second in league, while Jan Vertoghen lines up at centre-back after in-form Tottenham secured their fourth win on the bounce against Aston Villa.
Jose Fonte joins the Belgian in defence after he opened the scoring before salvaging a 2-2 draw for Southampton against Fulham, with Cottagers’ right-back Sascha Riether also included.
West Brom midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu completes our midfield after the Baggies piled more woe on Mark Hughes’ struggling QPR side with a 3-2 win, while Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy completes our TOTW following his role in the Royals’ draw with Swansea City.
Aaron Lennon is unlucky to miss the out after grabbing Spurs’ second goal at White Hart Lane on Sunday, with Olivier Giroud, Franco Di Santo and Esteban Granero also impressing over the weekend.
