'Dembele is exactly what Manchester United need' - Goal.com debates the last week of the Premier League transfer window

With the transfer window set to come to a close on Friday night, our Goal.com experts have been giving their thoughts on all the movers and shakers so far, and the possible deals that could happen right up until the deadline.

Liam Twomey, Greg Stobart and Matt Scott joined in on the debate, covering topics on Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Manchester City. Here are the results...

Q: Which club would benefit the most from signing Moussa Dembele?

Greg Stobart: "Dembele is exactly what Manchester United need in central midfield. He showed at Old Trafford in the middle of a four-man midfield that he can control matches with his dribbling and passing ability. He's pretty much what Sir Alex Ferguson expected Anderson become but the Brazilian has never fulfilled his potential.

"[Cheikh] Tiote and [Marouane] Fellaini would also improve a midfield that is the squad's obvious weakness - highlighted by Darren Fletcher's illness and a reliance on 37-year-old Paul Scholes - but Dembele would provide the drive to make the difference in tight matches."

Liam Twomey: "There's an argument to be made that United lack both drive and power in the middle of the park, but in all honesty the whole debate could prove academic. Having splurged €30.5 million on Robin van Persie, I'm not sure Sir Alex has any more money to bolster his squad this summer."

Q: Where do Tottenham need to strengthen most before the close of the transfer window?

Matt Scott: "While a replacement for Modric would be needed, personally I believe another striker is required most at White Hart Lane. Even if Andre Villas-Boas doesn't favour him, I think Tom Huddlestone has the ability and vision to step into the Croat's boots - but further up the field, there is very little behind Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe.

"Another frontman will provide competition to the two already at Spurs and gives AVB the option of playing two up top, with a quality substitute in his pocket. The Portuguese obviously feels this is a priority, given his chase of Leandro Damiao, but Spurs may have to move on to other targets, if their bid for the Brazilian continues to stall."

Q: What area at Manchester City needs the most attention?

GS: "Jack Rodwell has been bought for the future but Mancini is desperate to sign another central midfielder as City look to retain their Premier League title and challenge for the Champions League.

"Gareth Barry and Nigel De Jong are fine but they could do with an A-list midfielder to help control games, and to release Yaya Toure further up the pitch. Daniele De Rossi or Javi Martinez would be perfect, although the former has announced he's staying at Roma."

MS: "I genuinely struggle to see how Manchester City's squad can be any stronger. It could be argued that they could do with an absolute top-level right-back and while Maicon has been linked, I'd question the decision to sign an ageing player whose game was previously based on his pace. They've the strongest midfield in the league and one of the most complete strike forces in the game."

Q: Will Victor Moses be Chelsea's final signing of transfer window? Or are there further signings to be made before Friday's deadline?

LT: "With the signings of Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea have addressed the last couple of gaps they had in their squad. Moses will provide cover across the front three positions, while Azpilicueta will give Branislav Ivanovic necessary competition at right-back.

"The Blues have spent freely but also intelligently this summer, signing players for the future who already possess the ability to make an immediate contribution. So when Roberto Di Matteo says he's happy with his squad, I believe him."

MS: "I'm still unsure exactly why Chelsea have signed Victor Moses, it could just be my opinion but I don't think he has the consistency to make an impact at the Bridge. After the signing of Cesar Azpilicueta, I think the Blues look pretty well stocked in most departments. Fernando Torres has started the season well but perhaps another striker at the club could keep him on his toes enough to ensure the goals continue to flow.

"I'm still not convinced by John Obi Mikel's qualities, or all that sure exactly what it is that the Nigerian does. Ramires would be a better fit in the middle for me but if Roberto Di Matteo wants to keep him pushed up the pitch, a combative midfielder like Cheikh Tiote, who the Blues have been linked with, could be just the ticket."
