Down at the bottom, there will be some familiar names battling it out, while promoted Sampdoria, Torino and Pescara will be aiming for 17th place first and foremost in their bids to consolidate themselves back in the top flight. For Siena, though, there is the handicap of a six-point penalty.
Add into the mix a host of new signings and several coaching changes, and it promises to be a sometimes unpredictable but always absorbing season.
With the new campaign just around the corner, Goal.com International polled our writers on who they think will be taking all the big prizes next year.
We asked them to name their predictions for the following:
1. The top five at the end of the 2012-13 Serie A season
2. The three teams that will be relegated at the end of the 2012-13 Serie A season
3. Coppa Italia winners
4. Player of the Year
5. Young Player of the Year (Under-21)
6. Capocannoniere
7. Coach of the season
8. Best signing of the season
9. Worst signing of the season
THE PREDICTIONS
IN NUMBERS
7 of our 8 writers tip Juventus to win a second successive Serie A crown.
7 members of the team also feel that Siena will suffer the drop on the back of their Calcioscommesse penalty.
6 different players have been nominated as possible Player of the Year award winners.
3 writers believe Edinson Cavani will outscore the rest to take the Capocannoniere crown.
2 players have been tipped as the best signing of the season by more than one writer. Roma's Mattia Destro has three votes, with Inter new boy Walter Gargano getting the backing of two.
0 writers believe Milan will qualify for the 2013-14 Champions League through their league finish. One even has them down to miss Europa League qualification too.
6 writers tip Pescara to finish bottom of the pile, with only one suggesting they will remain in Serie A.
Let us know which writer you think is on the money - and who will be left red-faced next May.
