Extra Time: Woozy Rooney trips over tree on night out in LA
The Manchester United striker suffered the mishap during an evening of quiet revelry with wife Coleen and CNN chat show host Piers Morgan while on holiday in the USA
After failing to find his feet at Euro 2012, it seems than Wayne Rooney's fortunes are showing no signs of improving after he tripped over a tree while on a night out in Los Angeles.According to The Mirror, the England striker had been enjoying a night on the tiles in California with wife Coleen and CNN chat show host Piers Morgan when the incident occurred.
The Manchester United man reportedly stumbled into the offending bough at around midnight, at which point Coleen decided it would be best to take her husband home.
Morgan took to Twitter to continue the revelry, posting a picture of himself with the 26-year-old forward along with the caption: "Soho House, West Hollywood, midnight: greatest moment of @WayneRooney's life.”
Coleen then replied: "@piersmorgan haha!!! What????? Falling over a tree!!! X."
Before Piers then quipped: "Wayne fell over all through the Euros, dinner was no different!"
The cajoling did not stop there, as Morgan reminded Rooney of the mishap after Coleen later tweeted: "Sunday brunch @ Four Seasons LA with @WayneRooney!!! Really nice."
Piers asked her: "Did he fall into any more trees?", to which she replied: "@piersmorgan haha no he's on his best behaviour today!!!"
Rooney has been holidaying in the USA ever since England's quarter-final defeat to Italy last week. He was due to take part in a charity motorbike event with fellow Three Lions star Ashley Cole, but was forced to cancel at the last minute.
After England's penalty heartache in Kiev, Wayne may well have been looking forward to his first visit to Los Angeles – but this was not quite the 'trip' he had in mind.
