La Liga On Goal.com: Your Destination For All The Coverage, Analysis And Matches From The Spanish Primera Division

Goal.com looks ahead to jornada 24 of the Primera Division...

Barcelona's 16-game winning streak came to an unexepected end last weekend, and in turn breathed new life into the Primera Division title race.

The champions were held to a 1-1 draw against a resilient Sporting side, while Real Madrid, despite going down to 10 men early in the contest when Iker Casillas was dismissed, ground out an impressive 1-0 win at Espanyol.

The gap is reduced to five points at the top, and both face home encounters after which the difference is unlikely to alter; Madrid defeated Levante to close the gap to two points as they wait but Barca restored their lead at the top by edging Athletic Bilbao 2-1.

In Saturday's late game, Atletico Madrid ended a run of four straight league defeats with a win at Zaragoza.

Elsewhere in Spain, Valencia extended their unbeaten run at home to Sporting, drawing 0-0, and Villarreal could only draw struggling Malaga.
