Spanish Cumpleanos: Mauro Silva

1968: Mauro Silva: This Brazilian defensive midfielder moved to Spanish football in 1992, joining Deportivo La Coruna where he went on to make 369 Primera Liga appearances. He was an integral part of the Depor side that captured the league title in 2000 and also won two Copa del Reys. For Brazil Silva played 58 times and was an ever present on the side that won the 1994 World Cup in the USA.

1969: Robert Prosinecki:
The German born Croatian midfielder is one of a number of players to have won international caps for two countries having played 15 times for Yugoslavia before winning 49 caps for Croatia. He came to Spanish football in 1991, signing for Real Madrid where he won the Copa del Rey before spells at Oveido, Barcelona and Sevilla. He returned to Croatia in 1997 and retired from professional football in 2004.
