As the calender ticks over into 2010, Goal.com's experts cast their eye back over the season so far to pick out the best - and worst - performers around the globe...

It barely seems like yesterday that we were heralding the arrival of an exciting new season of football around the world. Big name signings were made by the top clubs in England, Italy, Spain and beyond, while many players were desperate to hit the ground running in a bid to prove their talents ahead of the World Cup at the end of the season.


The majority of the major leagues now have an opportunity to pause for breath as they go into their mid-season winter break, which gives Goal.com a chance to consult their team of experts on the best and worst performers from around the wide world of football.

Over the coming days, we will be bringing you the teams of the season so far from the Premier League to the Eredivisie, from the Campeonato Brasileiro to Serie A. Stay tuned for the latest on the transfer scene as well, as the revelations of the season so far are also considered.

Our series begins on Monday December 28 with the Team of the Season awards for the Premier League, Serie A La Liga, and culminates on Thursday January 7 with the 2009/10 Team of the Season.
