Serie A Worst Team Of The Week: Round 15
Goal.com looks at those who performed poorly in the fifteenth round of action...
Formation: 3-4-3
Goalkeeper
Mariano Andujar (Catania): A second consecutive appearance for the Argentine shot stopper, who conceded three goals to Siena and looked shaky whenever tested. Perhaps the Sicilians should try someone else in goal?
Defence
Daniele Portanova (Bologna): The 30-year-old defender was too slow executing the offside trap, allowing Antonio Di Natale to score for Udinese. Also, he nearly almost put one into his own net under little pressure.
Walter Samuel (Inter): The veteran performed numerous fouls and perhaps was lucky to avoid a dismissal. He perhaps could have done better on the winning goal by Claudio Marchisio in the Derby d’Italia. The title race is now reopened.
Marius Stankevicius (Sampdoria): Once again, the entire Sampdoria defence was in shambles for the second week in a row. The Lithuanian is the lucky individual that makes it into our team, as Pato and Ronaldinho bypassed him time after time.
Midfield
Daniele Mannini (Sampdoria): Coach Luigi Delneri hooked him after 25 minutes due to his particularly dreadful display at the San Siro. His error led to Milan’s third goal which closed off the match.

Nico Pulzetti (Livorno): The Italian is supposed to provide a link to the attack for the Amaranto, but he was unable to pull any strings as his team fell to 2-0 to Chievo Verona.
Michele Fini (Siena): The Robur may have won their second game of the season, but it was not because of Fini’s work in midfield. He was inadequate and following his departure, his replacement, Emanuele Calaio, had much more of an impact on the match.
Jeremy Menez (Roma): The French winger did not provide any of the cutting edge asked of him by coach Claudio Ranieri and committed a reckless tackle on Matuzalem, earning a yellow, but perhaps red would have been more appropriate. He was substituted at half-time for good reason.
Attack
Antonio Cassano (Sampdoria): One of the truly poor performances the ex-Real Madrid man has put in this season. He lost the ball on the Rossoneri’s opener early on and repeatedly did so until the end of a horrific match for the Blucerchiati.

Cristiano Lucarelli (Livorno): The fiery striker let his emotions get the better of him, as he was sent off after just 25 minutes for needlessly arguing a freekick call in favour of the visitors, leaving his side with ten men for a majority of the match. The struggling Amaranto cannot afford these kinds of setbacks if they wish to remain in Serie A.
Mario Balotelli (Inter): Everyone knew that it was going to be a rough go for the youngster if he went onto the pitch in Turin and it certainly was, not only because of the jeers. He seemingly crumbled under the pressure, slipping while taking set pieces and constantly becoming involved in altercations with the opposition players.
Portanova – Samuel – Stankevicius
Mannini – Fini – Pulzetti – Menez
Cassano – Lucarelli - Balotelli
