Serie A resumed at the weekend after the Christmas break, and it was another exciting round of action. Inter’s lead at the top was cut to four points after they drew 1-1 at home to Cagliari, while Juventus sunk Siena 1-0. David Beckham made his debut for Milan in an exciting 2-2 draw at Roma, and Napoli moved up to fourth by seeing off Catania. Fiorentina suffered a shock home defeat to Lecce, but Genoa and Lazio both won to close in on the Champions League places.

This week there are five choices for Goal of the Week:

Goal 1: Robert Acquafresca – Inter v Cagliari

The 21-year-old would later go on to miss an open goal, but there was certainly nothing wrong with this volleyed finish.

Goal 2: Alessandro Del PieroJuventus v Siena

The Golden Boy starts off 2009 in style with yet another trademark free kick to defeat Siena – his sixth set-piece goal of the season.

Goal 3: Fabrizio MiccoliPalermo v Atalanta

The pint-sized star scores the first in a five-goal thriller in Sicily with a classy half-volley with the outside of his boot.

Goal 4: Goran Pandev – Reggina v Lazio

This goal makes the list, purely due to the world class build-up play from the phenomenal Mauro Zarate.

Goal 5: Alexandre Pato – Roma v Milan

Explosive individual goal from the teenage wonderkid, as he leaves Mexes for dead, and lifts the ball over the onrushing Doni.

Goal.com Verdict
