thumbnail Hello,

The Brazilian changed the game with his second half substitute appearance and felt his side's victory was the right reward for their persistence

Real Madrid defender Marcelo believes his side deserved to win the Champions League but admits they should have secured victory sooner.

The Brazilian scored the third goal as Carlo Ancelotti's side overcame Atletico Madrid 4-1 in Lisbon after extra time.

Diego Godin's goal had seen Diego Simeone's side lead for much of the match but Marcelo feels that they are worthy European champions.

He said: "It's an immense joy. We were slow to get it, but we know how we fought, how we sacrificed, we left everything on the field to give this joy to the fans.

"To those on the bench, on the pitch, in the stands, it was very nice. At last we're going to Cibeles, I'm very happy.

"There are no words. I can see it on the faces of the people, it's a huge joy. It's for everyone's to enjoy, we deserved it."
