Ajax - Barcelona Betting Preview: Why Barca should win whilst condceding

Our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides believes that Victor Valdes will be sorely missed for the blaugrana but that ultimately Barca will prevail in Holland
The champions of Holland and Spain respectively meet in Amsterdam this evening as Barcelona travel to Ajax.

They may be missing their two most important players this season in Lionel Messi and Victor Valdes, but Barcelona were comfortable 4-0 winners at the weekend over Granada and Betway price them at 11/20 (1.55) to record another win tonight.

Ajax meanwhile who currently sit second in the Eredivisie table can be backed at 5/1 (6.00). Betway make the draw a 31/10 (4.10) shot in this game.

Naturally any team in the world would miss the simple brilliance of Messi, yet up front Barca have enough quality to cope. Cesc Fabregas is in decent scoring form, while Neymar has been providing some glorious assists.

They should have little trouble scoring against an Ajax side they beat 4-0 in matchday one and have shown little in the following rounds to suggest that they will cause the Spanish side too many problems when it comes to the match result.

Yet the loss of Valdes may be felt more keenly, with the goalkeeper arguably in the best form of his career when injury struck while on international duty.

To this end backing Barcelona to win and both teams to score at 39/20 (2.95) looks like an excellent option at a genuinely healthy price.

Ajax have been regularly finding the back of the net in recent weeks and at home against Barca's sometimes unpredictable stand-in goalkeeper Jose Pinto, there is every chance they could do so again.
