Goal readers blame Brown over Neymar for dismissal

The Celtic skipper received his marching orders against the Catalans for a controversial incident against the Brazilian, a decision that readers felt was merited

Scott Brown’s dismissal during Celtic’s 1-0 loss to Barcelona on Tuesday was his own fault, according to the results of Goal’s latest poll.

With the match goalless, the Hoops captain was shown a straight red card in the 59th minute by French referee Stephane Lannoy for bringing down Neymar in a challenge, and Celtic went on to lose the game 1-0.

However, some were left questioning the decision after apparent theatrics by the Brazilian, even though Brown appeared to aim a small kick in the forward’s direction once he was down on the turf.

But Goal’s readers have narrowly decided that Lannoy made the correct decision, with 55.2 per cent (4541 votes) of readers agreeing that Brown’s sending off was deserved, while 44.8% (3691 votes) of readers felt that Neymar’s over-the-top reaction had convinced the referee to take harsher measures.
