The Dortmund midfielder is certain his side will emerge victorious against the French giants and feels coach Jurgen Klopp's ban will not affect the team
The German giants suffered a 2-1 defeat at Napoli in their first Champions League game this season but the Turkey star is confident his side can get their campaign on track with victory over Elie Baup's side.
"We’re approaching the match with confidence, because we know we can achieve our goals, regardless of how good our opposition are," he told Bundesliga.com.
"We all know that we need to take an important step forward against Marseille and that we absolutely have to win our home games."
Coach Jurgen Klopp will be watching the match from the stands after being sent off during the Partenopei clash but Sahin says his assistant Zeljko Buvac will do a similarly good job in his stead.
"Well, we know what to expect and we can’t change the fact he won’t be there," he continued.
"However, our assistant coach Buvac is basically Klopp’s twin, and he’ll be on the bench instead. Both of them see football in exactly the same way.
"The coach will prepare us in exactly the same way on the training field, and usually during a game you’re so focused that you’ve hardly got any time to go to the sidelines and find the coach.
"Like I said, we know he won’t be there and are prepared for that."
The clash between BVB and Marseille is scheduled for kick-off at 20.45CET on Tuesday.
