Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has outlined the importance of his side's Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona, labelling the clash as "more than a football match."
Tuesday's quarter-final first leg at Parc des Princes represents the biggest match for the Ligue 1 leaders since Al-Khelaifi took over the club in 2011, and the 39-year-old is relishing the prospect of an event which has a truly global appeal.
"It is more than a football match. It is a great event for Paris, for France and for the world," he told sport.es.
"I am sure the players will give 200% on the pitch."
Some quarters are dubbing the encounter the 'Qatari Classic' due to the ties both clubs enjoy with the nation, and Al-Khelaifi acknowledged the added appeal of such similarities lend to the encounter.
"Barca have are sponsored by the Qatar Foundation and Qatar Sports Investment own us so there are similarities," he added.
The first-leg of the tie kicks off at 20:45 CET in the French Capital, with the return leg at Camp Nou on April 10.
