thumbnail Hello,

The Primera Division leaders have a rather impressive record during the meeting of the College of Cardinals, again winning by four goals on Tuesday

Barcelona continued a remarkable tradition on Tuesday as they made it three 4-0 wins in a row in games that have taken place during a papal conclave.

The Liga side beat AC Milan 4-0 at Camp Nou in their Champions League last 16 second leg game to add to their two previous wins, as @2010MisterChip mentioned on Twitter.

The Blaugrana first took to the pitch during a papal conclave on October 26, 1958 when they locked horns with arch-rivals Real Madrid while a meeting of the College of Cardinals convened to elect a new Bishop of Rome took place.

An impressive Evaristo hat-trick and a single Justo Tejada striker helped Barca to a comfortable 4-0 win, with the College of Cardinals eventually electing Angelo Roncalli - John XXIII - as the new pope.

Barcelona next played during a papal conclave 20 years later, when they took on Las Palmas, and again recorded a 4-0 win two days before John Paul II was unveiled by the white smoke.

This week's meeting with Milan was their third match that took place during the selection of a new pope, and the Camp Nou side again picked up a 4-0 win.

This time, the victory came courtesy of two goals from Lionel Messi before the break, and one strike each from David Villa and Jordi Alba after the interval.
