The Shakhtar Donetsk coach is aware of the threat posed by Jurgen Klopp's men after their first-placed finish in the group stage of the Champions LeagueShakhtar Dontetsk coach Mircea Lucescu believes that Borussia Dortmund play like a Spanish team as they prepare to face the Schwarzgelben on Wednesday.
Jurgen Klopp's side have won widespread acclaim for their quick style of football over the last couple of years, and the Romanian icon does not believe they play like most German teams.
"We have played well against German clubs in the past," he was quoted as saying by the official Uefa website.
"We won away against Stuttgart and Schalke in the Uefa Cup and defeated Werder Bremen in the final [in 2009]. but Dortmund are not a typical German side.
"Their style takes a lot from Spanish football because they like to control possession. Dortmund won the last two German tiles and finished top of their Champions League group in the autumn.
"That means that they have at least two top-class players in every position, and let's not forget how important motivation and attitude are on this stage."
BVB and Shakhtar are due to kick off at 20:45CET on Wednesday.
