Uefa reduces Champions League final ticket prices after criticism
The European football governing body set a minimum price of £176 for the 2011 finale in London, and with the showpiece set to return to Wembley the cheapest fare has been slashed
Uefa has reduced the price of the cheapest Champions League final ticket to £68 [€80] following criticism of the last Wembley-held showpiece in 2011.
The issue came to the forefront in January when Manchester City returned around a third of their ticket allocation for their Premier League game at Arsenal after their fans refused to pay the high prices.
The last Champions League final held in England was in 2011, when Barcelona beat Manchester United 3-1 at Wembley, with the cheapest ticket priced at £176 [€208].
And Uefa says it has listened to the criticism of two years ago and lowered the cheapest available ticket, telling BBC Sport: "It is correct we should give the opportunity to everyone to go to the match irrespective of their financial conditions."
Only 13,000 of the 59,000 tickets available to the general public will be priced at £68, with the rest being sold for between £140 and £330 [€165 and €390].
The Champions League resumes next week, with the first of the last-16 ties taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
