Juventus could have scored more than four, claims Alessio
The assistant coach was pleased with the number of chances the Bianconeri created and stated his side must now beat Chelsea in their next European encounter if they are to qualify
Angelo Alessio was satisfied with Juventus' display in their 4-0 victory over FC Nordsjaelland and claimed they could even have scored more. The Old Lady remain third in Group E, one point behind leaders Shakhtar Donetsk and Chelsea, after recording their first victory in Europe this season.
“We created a great deal [and] on top of the four goals we could’ve had a few more," the assistant coach told reporters.
"We pressed the ball in every area of the field and played the style of football we needed to.”
The 47-year-old also highlighted the depth of the Bianconeri squad, with Alessandro Matri and Sebastian Giovinco starting up front as Mirko Vucinic missed the game through injury.
“Giovinco played very well; we know his qualities very well. It’s a shame Matri didn’t get a goal, but he too played well," he added.
“Conte chooses the strikers game by game, based in part on the characteristics of our opponents. The important thing is for them to be ready, just as Fabio Quagliarella was tonight.”
Chelsea's win over Shakhtar leaves Group E on a knife-edge with two rounds of games remaining - a fact Alessio is well aware of.
“Of course we absolutely have to beat Chelsea at home in the next game and earn our place in the next round."
