'We were lucky against Madrid' - Klopp
The BVB trainer admits that fortune shone on his side at times during their clash against the Spanish champions, but nevertheless took the time to praise their performance

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp confessed his side were lucky to escape from Santiago Bernabeu with a point after a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
The German outfit were pegged back by a late Mesut Ozil equaliser after spending most of the second half under siege from the hosts, and the BVB boss recognized they were fortunate not to concede more than they did - especially after Jose Callejon saw a goal disallowed for offside.
“We’ve had some luck. If you have no luck here [at the Bernabeu], you concede eight goals,” explained Klopp in a post-match press conference.
“It is very difficult to plan a match against Real Madrid. The big difference is, when you play at the Bernabeu, they are more aggressive. After the break, Madrid were in force and we did not respond well. I do not know if Callejon’s goal was offside or not, but I have no problem with the decision!”
However, despite his frank comments, Klopp did take the time to compliment the display of his team, who were minutes away from securing a famous double victory over Jose Mourinho’s men.
“This was a good result. Our plan was to not make mistakes and have possession of the ball. We had clear ideas and played very well, especially in the second half against [Cristiano] Ronaldo on the right wing.”
The Dortmund trainer also had kind words for the visiting supporterss.
He added: “Our fans and the atmosphere were fantastic.”
Dortmund sit one point ahead of Madrid at the top of Group D, and will face Manchester City and Ajax in their final two group games.
